Dubai Police Educate 5,000 Filipinos on Online Scams and Road Safety
Dubai Police has strengthened its community outreach by sharing essential safety advice with around 5,000 members of the Filipino community at the Al Rigga Night Market in Deira.
The initiative focused on preventing online fraud, improving road safety and raising awareness about crime prevention.
Organised through the Positive Spirit Council in cooperation with Al Muraqqabat Police Station and strategic partners, the event provided an opportunity for officers to connect directly with residents.
The campaign also highlighted the importance of cooperation between law enforcement and the wider community.
Dubai Police Highlight Common Online Scams
As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, police representatives explained how cybercriminals use phishing messages, fraudulent links and fake identities on social media and mobile applications.
Residents were advised to protect their personal information and banking details while remaining cautious about unexpected communications.
Officers also stressed that passwords, confidential information and verification codes should never be shared with unverified contacts.
Participants learned about official channels for reporting suspected cybercrime and online fraud, helping them recognise threats and respond appropriately.
Road Safety and Crime Prevention Remain Priorities
The awareness campaign also addressed everyday safety practices and responsible behaviour in public spaces.
Police highlighted the dangers of crossing roads at unsuitable locations and encouraged residents to follow traffic signs and UAE road regulations.
The sessions aimed to help people make safer decisions that protect themselves and others.
Alongside road safety, officers discussed crime prevention and the importance of complying with local laws.
These messages formed part of a wider effort to improve public awareness and reduce risks within the community.
Residents Introduced to Dubai Police Smart Services
Visitors also received information about Dubai Police’s community, security and digital services, including ways to request assistance and contact authorities through official channels.
Fatima Ahmad Bohjair, chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, said engaging with residents at popular public venues helps deliver practical advice and build stronger community relationships.
The initiative encouraged trust, cooperation and shared responsibility for public safety.
Dubai Police plans to continue community awareness programmes with police stations and strategic partners to support a safer and more connected city.
