Himachal Pradesh’s Sinduri Pomegranates Reach Dubai in 1.3-Tonne Shipment

Dubai has received a fresh consignment of Sinduri pomegranates from Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh, highlighting India’s efforts to expand its agricultural exports.

The shipment, weighing 1.3 metric tonnes, was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced the development on October 22, 2026.

The consignment brings a distinctive Himalayan fruit to consumers in the UAE.

It also creates an opportunity for farmers to connect with buyers beyond India’s domestic market.

What Makes Sinduri Pomegranates Special?

Sinduri pomegranates are known for their attractive red appearance and sweet, juicy seeds.

Their arrival in Dubai places the spotlight on the agricultural produce grown in Kullu, a region widely recognised for its mountain landscapes and fruit orchards.

The export initiative aims to introduce locally cultivated products to international consumers while strengthening their market presence.

Access to overseas buyers can help farmers explore additional sales opportunities and reach a wider customer base.

The shipment also highlights the potential of Himachal Pradesh’s horticulture sector to contribute to India’s growing food exports.

APEDA Supports Indian Agricultural Exports

The latest shipment forms part of wider efforts to help Indian farmers and food producers enter international markets.

APEDA has been supporting export initiatives that connect regional produce with overseas customers.

Earlier in October, the authority also facilitated the dispatch of 24 metric tonnes of frozen food products from Sonipat in Haryana to Canada.

That consignment included green peas, mixed vegetables, sweet corn and other food items.

Such initiatives aim to improve market access for agricultural producers and encourage more Indian products to reach international destinations.

India Looks to Expand Overseas Market Opportunities

India is also encouraging exporters and businesses to make better use of free trade agreements to increase international sales.

Government outreach programmes are helping farmers, small businesses and exporters understand opportunities in overseas markets.

A recent workshop in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, brought together more than 200 participants, including officials and representatives from export promotion organisations.

For Kullu’s farmers, the arrival of Sinduri pomegranates in Dubai represents a promising step towards broader international recognition.

Continued export support could help regional agricultural products reach more consumers and strengthen farmers’ income opportunities.
