Dubai Gold Prices Rise as US Interest Rate Hike Expectations Ease
Gold prices in Dubai edged higher on Monday, October 19, 2026, as global traders reduced their expectations of an immediate interest rate increase by the US Federal Reserve.
The change in market sentiment followed remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, which investors interpreted as a possible signal that policymakers could hold rates steady at their next meeting.
In the UAE, gold prices increased by around Dh2 to Dh3 per gram.
The movement comes as investors continue to assess inflation, interest rates and global economic uncertainty.
Latest Gold Rates in Dubai
The price of 24-karat gold reached Dh504.25 per gram during early Monday trading, while 22-karat gold rose to Dh467 from Dh464.75 in the previous session.
Meanwhile, 14-karat gold was priced at Dh299.25 per gram, remaining below the Dh300 mark.
These changes provide an important reference for UAE shoppers planning jewellery purchases.
However, final retail prices may vary depending on the jewellery design, making charges and individual retailer.
Why US Interest Rate Expectations Matter
Gold prices are closely linked to expectations surrounding US monetary policy because the precious metal does not pay interest.
When interest rates and bond yields rise, investors may prefer assets that generate returns, putting pressure on gold.
However, when the likelihood of a rate increase declines, gold can become more attractive.
Recent comments from the Federal Reserve chair reduced market expectations of a quarter-point increase at the upcoming meeting, although traders continue to monitor inflation figures and signals about future policy decisions.
Global Market Factors Continue to Influence Gold
Other developments have also supported gold, including lower bond yields, concerns about technology stock valuations and continued demand for safe-haven investments.
Global spot gold rose to around $4,177.78 an ounce during Monday morning trading in Dubai.
Despite the recent improvement, the outlook remains uncertain as investors continue to weigh the possibility of further US rate increases before the end of the year.
UAE buyers should therefore monitor daily gold rates and compare retail prices before making purchasing decisions.
