Sphere Abu Dhabi: UAE Company to Install Giant LED Exosphere

Abu Dhabi’s upcoming Sphere entertainment venue has taken another major step forward, with UAE-founded Blue Rhine Industries selected to install its enormous exterior LED display.

The project will bring a striking digital feature to Yas Island, allowing the building’s outer surface to display changing visuals, artwork and entertainment content.

The development is part of a wider effort to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a destination for innovative attractions.

The new venue is expected to combine advanced technology with cultural storytelling.

Blue Rhine Industries Takes on Major LED Installation

Blue Rhine Industries secured the subcontract from ALEC Engineering and Contracting, part of ALEC Holdings, to install and commission the Exosphere.

The company described the assignment as the largest project scope in its 20-year history.

Its responsibilities include fitting the LED screens across the building’s exterior and ensuring the display system is ready to operate.

The work requires specialist audiovisual expertise, precise installation and careful coordination with the wider construction programme.

A 112-Metre Exterior Designed for Digital Displays

The Exosphere will wrap around the approximately 112-metre-high venue, turning its spherical exterior into a giant programmable screen.

It is designed to show a wide range of moving images and visual productions, creating an attraction even for people outside the building.

Plans also include showcasing artwork by Emirati artists, offering local creative talent a prominent platform.

The exterior display will complement the immersive entertainment experiences planned inside the venue.

Sphere Abu Dhabi Targets Completion by 2029

Sphere Abu Dhabi is being developed by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in partnership with Sphere Entertainment, with construction-phase investment estimated at $1.7 billion.

The venue is planned for Yas Island, between Yas Mall and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, and is expected to accommodate up to 20,000 people depending on the event.

Construction is targeted for completion by the end of 2029.

Once operational, the landmark is expected to support tourism, major events and cultural experiences while bringing a new dimension to the UAE capital’s entertainment offering.
