Alex Bowman Says Running Saved His Life Ahead of 100km Dubai Challenge
Alex Bowman’s journey into long-distance running is a story of resilience, personal growth and determination.
What began as a way to cope with difficult experiences gradually became a passion that transformed his lifestyle and outlook.
After starting as a non-runner, Bowman progressed to completing marathons and ultramarathons within just three years.
Now based in Dubai, he hopes his experience will encourage others to discover the physical and emotional benefits of running, whatever their starting point.
How Running Helped Bowman Overcome Personal Struggles
For Bowman, running has become much more than a form of exercise.
He describes it as an important tool for navigating emotional pain and challenging periods in his life.
Regular training helped him develop discipline, resilience and a stronger sense of purpose.
By committing to small, consistent steps, he gradually built confidence and found a positive outlet for difficult emotions.
His experience reflects how physical activity can become a meaningful part of rebuilding routines and regaining direction.
From Beginner to Marathon and Ultra Runner
Bowman’s progress demonstrates how dedication can turn an unfamiliar activity into a major personal achievement.
In a relatively short period, he completed eight marathons across Europe and the UAE, six ultramarathons in six days, and a 100-kilometre treadmill run.
He has also recorded a marathon time of two hours and 50 minutes.
These milestones reflect the commitment required for endurance running, although Bowman believes every run matters, regardless of distance, pace or personal best.
Inspiring Dubai’s Running Community
After moving to Dubai in December 2025, Bowman continued building his career around running, movement and community.
As a running coach, he aims to share the lessons he has learned and help others begin or continue their own fitness journeys.
His story also highlights the importance of consistency, patience and support when pursuing demanding goals.
Through his experiences and coaching, Bowman hopes to show that running can offer more than athletic achievement—it can also create connection, confidence and a renewed sense of purpose.
