Some of world’s rarest cars to be auctioned in Abu Dhabi in December
Some of the world’s rarest collector cars will go under the hammer in Abu Dhabi on December 9, as RM Sotheby’s brings an exclusive selection of high-value vehicles to the UAE capital.
RM Sotheby’s, the world’s largest collector car auction house by total sales, has announced the first consignments for the upcoming auction, led by a distinguished collection of Ferraris. Estimates for the six cars range from $80,000 (Dh293,600) to $850,000 (Dh3.11 million), with two vehicles offered without reserve.
Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M Leads the Auction
The most valuable car announced so far is a Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M, with just 5,200 kilometres on the odometer. The open-top sports car carries an estimated value of $700,000 to $850,000, making it the headline attraction of the collection.
The Ferrari will be joined by three other models: a 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, a 2006 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti F1 HGTC and a 2010 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
Four Ferraris Showcase Performance and Exclusivity
The Swiss-delivered 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale has covered approximately 32,000 kilometres. It comes with a strong service history, original books and tools, with an estimated value of $450,000 to $550,000.
The 2010 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano offers a distinctive appearance with its Extra Campionario Ivory Cream exterior, brown interior and extensive carbon-fibre detailing. This Middle East-market example is currently registered in the UAE and has covered 39,900 kilometres. Following a specialist inspection, the car was reported to be in very good condition. Its estimate stands at $140,000 to $200,000.
Another highlight is the 2006 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti F1 HGTC, finished in paint-to-sample Gris Violet with Cuoio leather upholstery. Its features include the HGTC package, Daytona seats, a full Alcantara dashboard and bespoke interior detailing.
With approximately 58,000 kilometres on the odometer, a full service history and original order documentation, the Ferrari carries an estimate of $80,000 to $120,000. It will be offered without reserve.
Lamborghini Murciélago Brings V12 Power
Beyond Ferrari, the auction will feature a 2004 Lamborghini Murciélago powered by a 6.2-litre V12 engine producing 572 horsepower.
The supercar combines four-wheel drive with a highly desirable six-speed gated manual transmission. Delivered new to Japan in February 2004, the left-hand-drive vehicle comes with its books and manuals, including its warranty card.
RM Sotheby’s estimates the Lamborghini at $400,000 to $450,000.
The collection also includes a 1991 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione “Martini 5”, one of only 400 examples built to celebrate Lancia’s fifth consecutive World Rally Championship manufacturers’ title.
This particular car is number 388 of the limited production run and features the iconic Martini racing stripes. It underwent extensive recommissioning in May 2022 and carries an estimated value of $120,000 to $150,000.
The Lancia will also be offered without reserve.
RM Sotheby’s Highlights Growing Middle East Interest
Duccio Filippo Lopresto, managing director for MENA at RM Sotheby’s, said the Middle East remains an exciting market for collector cars. He added that the company looks forward to bringing an exceptional selection to Abu Dhabi and welcoming both established and new collectors.
The upcoming auction will bring together rare performance cars, distinctive specifications and vehicles with significant motorsport heritage, offering collectors an opportunity to compete for some of the most desirable models in the automotive world.
