New Dubai waterpark to open within months, DHE chief announces
Dubai is set to welcome a new waterpark in the coming months, according to Fernando Eiroa, CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment (DHE).
Speaking at the Rise summit in Dubai on Wednesday, Eiroa confirmed that the new attraction will open within the next couple of months. The waterpark is being developed as part of the Dubai Parks and Resorts portfolio and will be designed specifically for the summer season.
Eiroa highlighted the importance of entertainment in Dubai's tourism industry, noting that the emirate has evolved beyond its reputation for luxury hotels and unique experiences to become a major entertainment destination.
Global Village Attracts Around 50,000 Visitors Daily
During his address, Eiroa highlighted the success of Global Village, which attracts an average of nearly 50,000 visitors per day.
He described the visitor numbers as a significant achievement, particularly given the UAE's relatively small population compared with the United States.
Global Village is opening its 31st season on October 14, 2026, offering visitors a mix of cultural experiences, shopping, dining and entertainment from around the world.
According to Eiroa, one of the attraction's key strengths is its ability to listen to visitors and introduce new experiences every season.
Dubai's Entertainment Industry Focuses on Interactive Experiences
Eiroa also discussed how customer expectations have changed in recent years. With easy access to information about attractions worldwide, visitors increasingly compare experiences and seek activities that allow them to participate rather than simply watch.
He highlighted the Real Madrid theme park at Dubai Parks and Resorts as an example of this trend. The attraction offers football-themed challenges that allow families to compete against one another.
This shift towards interactive entertainment is helping Dubai attract families and visitors looking for more engaging leisure experiences.
Dubai Parks and Resorts Reopen After Six-Month Closure
Dubai Parks and Resorts recently reopened after a six-month closure, during which the company carried out maintenance and refurbishment work across its attractions.
Eiroa said the downtime provided an opportunity to introduce new restaurants, upgrade existing attractions and complete essential maintenance.
Following the reopening, the group has reported strong demand from visitors.
Riverland Introduces 14 New Attractions
As part of its latest developments, Riverland has introduced 14 new attractions to expand its entertainment offerings.
The additions include go-karting, bowling and Lamborghini driving simulators, providing visitors with more activities to enjoy during their visits.
With the upcoming waterpark, new attractions and the return of major destinations such as Global Village, Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a leading destination for family entertainment and tourism.
