Fed Policy Continues to Influence Gold
Daniel Takieddine, co-founder and CEO of Sky Links Capital Group, said the US Federal Reserve's decision had already been largely factored into market expectations. However, comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh that inflation remains too high, along with forecasts pointing to at least one more rate increase this year, put pressure on gold prices.
He said traders are likely to closely monitor potential rate increases by major central banks and further signals from the Federal Reserve. Hawkish comments could push yields higher and weigh on gold, while softer messaging could ease yields and support a recovery in gold prices.
Geopolitical Risks Remain Important
Naeem Aslam, CIO of Zaye Capital Markets, said the wider gold-price environment will continue to depend on how key economic and geopolitical factors develop.
Political uncertainty, tariff risks, elevated oil prices and geopolitical tensions could support demand for gold as a portfolio-protection asset. At the same time, weaker economic data could raise expectations that monetary-policy tightening is approaching its limit.
Key Indicators for Gold Investors
According to Aslam, investors tracking gold prices should pay close attention to:
US real Treasury yields
The US dollar
Oil prices
Retail-sales momentum
Inflation expectations
The future path of monetary policy
These factors are expected to remain important for gold-price movements in the near term.
