Xi Jinping to Begin Major US Visit as Trade, AI and Global Security Take Centre Stage

Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to begin a three-day state visit to the United States on September 23, setting the stage for closely watched talks with US President Donald Trump at a time when relations between the world's two largest economies remain shaped by trade, technology competition and geopolitical tensions.

China's Foreign Ministry confirmed that Xi will visit the United States from September 23 to 25, 2026, at Trump's invitation.

Beijing said the two leaders are expected to hold in-depth discussions on China-US relations as well as major international issues concerning peace and development.

The visit is expected to attract significant attention from governments, businesses and financial markets because decisions made by Washington and Beijing can affect global trade, technology supply chains, investment and security.
