Sharjah temporarily closes Dibba Al Hisn beach until further notice

Sharjah’s Dibba Al Hisn beach has been temporarily closed until further notice to allow maintenance and improvement work, the municipality announced on Tuesday.

The closure comes amid a series of beach closures across the UAE as authorities respond to an oil spill near the country’s coastline.

Beach Closed for Maintenance and Improvement

According to a notice issued by the municipality, Dibba Al Hisn beach will remain closed until further notice while maintenance and improvement work takes place.

Authorities have not announced a reopening date. Visitors are advised to follow official updates before planning a trip to the beach.

The beach closure comes after authorities announced the temporary closure of beaches and coastal areas across the emirate as teams assess the situation and identify the necessary safety and marine protection measures.

The closures aim to support environmental assessments and help authorities determine appropriate steps to protect coastal areas and marine life.

Authorities Respond to Oil Spill Reports

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) confirmed that an oil spill had occurred shortly after residents began reporting a foul smell.

The ministry stated that the reported odours posed no health risk to residents.

Following the detection of the spill, response teams began containment, cordoning, cleanup and remediation operations to minimise the environmental impact.

The response effort is being carried out in coordination with local and federal authorities. Teams are working to address the spill, assess affected areas and implement measures to protect the marine environment.

Authorities have not provided a confirmed timeline for reopening the affected beaches. Residents and visitors should monitor official announcements for the latest information on beach access and safety measures.
