Sharjah Safari Opens Fifth Season Today With New Wildlife Experiences

Sharjah Safari welcomes visitors back from September 21 for its fifth season, introducing new behind-the-scenes animal care experiences alongside 186 new births recorded through its breeding programmes.

Sharjah Safari officially opens its fifth season today, welcoming families, wildlife enthusiasts and tourists back for a renewed experience combining wildlife discovery, education, conservation and entertainment.

Located in Al Bridi Reserve in Al Dhaid, Sharjah Safari will welcome visitors daily from 8:30am to 6pm throughout the new season.

The fifth season introduces new experiences designed to take visitors beyond simply viewing animals, with selected behind-the-scenes animal care tours offering a closer look at how wildlife is cared for by specialist teams.

186 New Animal Births Ahead of Fifth Season

One of the major highlights ahead of the reopening is the success of Sharjah Safari's breeding and animal-care programmes.

The attraction recorded 186 births during the second quarter of 2026, involving a wide variety of species including South African giraffes, elephants, lions, oryx, blue wildebeest, impala, nyala and zebra.

Visitors this season will therefore have opportunities to see a new generation of animals across the safari's expansive habitats.

Sharjah Safari also recently welcomed six hatchlings of the critically endangered radiated tortoise, another development in its ongoing breeding and conservation efforts.

New Behind-the-Scenes Wildlife Experience

Among the additions for the fifth season are exclusive tours taking visitors behind the scenes of animal care.

Available during selected periods, the tours will provide insight into the animals' daily care, their individual needs and the work carried out by specialist teams responsible for maintaining their health and wellbeing.

The experience is intended to add a stronger educational element to a visit, helping guests understand that wildlife conservation involves much more than observing animals.

Aisha Rashid Deemas, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, said the new season reflects the continuing development of Sharjah Safari and its role in wildlife conservation and public environmental education.

More Than 120 African Animal Species

Sharjah Safari spans approximately eight square kilometres within Al Bridi Reserve and features 12 different environments inspired by regions and ecosystems across Africa.

The attraction is home to more than 120 species native to Africa, including elephants, giraffes, lions, rhinoceroses, crocodiles, antelopes and numerous species of birds and reptiles. Visit Sharjah describes the destination as the world's largest safari outside Africa.

The landscapes have been designed to resemble the animals' natural environments, allowing visitors to experience different African ecosystems while remaining in Sharjah.

Wildlife, Education and Family Entertainment

The new season will continue to combine wildlife viewing with educational and recreational programmes.

Visitors can explore different habitats and learn about species, ecosystems and conservation while seeing animals in large environments designed around their natural behaviour and requirements.

Sharjah Safari also includes family facilities, children's recreational areas, restaurants and cafés, as well as a natural lake area where visitors can take a break during their trip.

The destination first opened in February 2022 and has since become one of the emirate's prominent nature and eco-tourism attractions.

Conservation Remains at Heart of Sharjah Safari

Alongside tourism, wildlife conservation remains a major part of the attraction's mission.

Its specialised breeding programmes, habitat management and educational activities are designed to support biodiversity while increasing public awareness about the need to protect wildlife.

The new births recorded this year are among the latest outcomes of these programmes, while the behind-the-scenes tours are intended to give visitors greater insight into the expertise required to care for different species.

The Environment and Protected Areas Authority says the fifth season continues Sharjah Safari's approach of combining an enjoyable visitor experience with environmental awareness and wildlife education.
