Philippines launches e-visa in Dubai to attract more UAE tourists
A senior Filipino diplomat has expressed optimism that more UAE residents will visit the Philippines following the introduction of an electronic visa (e-Visa) system.
Philippine Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III announced on Monday that the Philippine Consulate in Dubai has joined 94 other diplomatic missions worldwide that are processing e-visa applications.
Enciso said the initiative forms part of the Philippines' strategy to boost tourism by making the visa application process more convenient for travellers from the UAE.
He noted that UAE residents value convenience when travelling and that the new system will make visiting the Philippines easier for eligible applicants.
E-Visa to Benefit Travellers from 37 Countries
Many travellers already enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to the Philippines. These include Emirati citizens, Europeans, Canadians, US citizens, and nationals of several South Asian countries, subject to applicable entry rules.
The new e-Visa system will particularly benefit nationals of at least 37 countries who must obtain a visa before travelling.
Eligible applicants include citizens of:
-
India and Bangladesh
-
Pakistan and Sri Lanka
-
Iran and Iraq
-
Egypt and Lebanon
-
Palestine and Yemen
-
Sudan and Syria
-
Ukraine
The system aims to simplify the application process for travellers who previously needed a physical visa.
E-Visa Rules and Entry Requirements
The Philippine e-Visa is intended strictly for tourism and other permitted temporary visitor purposes. It does not allow holders to work in the Philippines.
The e-Visa is also non-extendable and cannot be converted into another visa category, including employment or student visas.
Once approved, travellers can present their e-Visas digitally or carry printed copies when arriving in the Philippines. Authorities will no longer need to affix physical visa stickers to their passports for visas issued through the e-Visa system.
Applicants can access the official portal at evisa.gov.ph.
The electronic system will operate alongside Machine Readable Visa (MRV) stickers for individual temporary visitor visas under Category 9(a) and other applicable Philippine visa categories.
Philippines E-Visa Processing Time and Fees
Applicants can choose between single-entry and multiple-entry e-Visas, depending on their travel requirements and eligibility.
The available options include tourism, business, medical treatment, training, conferences, meetings, workshops, and seminars, subject to the applicable visa conditions.

How Long Can Travellers Stay in the Philippines?
The permitted duration of stay ranges from 7 to 59 days, depending on the applicant's nationality and applicable visa conditions.
Travellers should check the official e-Visa portal for the latest requirements, processing times, fees, and permitted duration of stay before submitting an application.
New Initiative Aims to Boost Philippine Tourism
The introduction of e-Visa services in Dubai marks a step towards making travel to the Philippines more accessible for eligible UAE residents.
By simplifying visa procedures and allowing approved travellers to present their documents electronically, Philippine authorities hope to encourage more visitors and strengthen tourism ties with the UAE.
The initiative could make planning holidays and other permitted temporary visits more convenient, particularly for residents who previously had to apply for physical visas.
