Missing Cat Found at Dubai Airport After 10-Day Search, Owner Awaits Reunion

A missing pet cat named Chuuti has been found at Dubai International Airport after an extensive search that lasted around 10 days.

The cat belongs to Avishka Kaumadi, a Sri Lankan woman who was preparing to travel from Dubai to Sri Lanka on October 11, 2026.

The discovery brought relief after days of uncertainty and emotional distress.

Kaumadi shared the happy update publicly, expressing gratitude to the teams involved in the search.

However, she is still waiting for Chuuti to be safely transported to Sri Lanka so they can finally reunite.

How Chuuti Went Missing at Dubai International Airport

According to Kaumadi, Chuuti disappeared from his carrier while being handled for air-cargo transport before her scheduled flight.

She said she had completed the required paperwork and payment before the cat was inspected.

After passing through immigration, she received a call informing her that Chuuti had escaped.

Kaumadi refused to board her flight without her pet and joined an initial search in the airport’s cargo area.

Despite spending hours trying to locate him, the search was unsuccessful, leaving her waiting anxiously for further updates.

Airport Teams Continue the Search for the Missing Cat

Kaumadi returned to the airport the following day to seek updates and discuss the arrangements for bringing Chuuti home if he was found.

She also remained in contact with airport representatives while the search continued.

An update on October 21 confirmed that Chuuti had been located inside a baggage carousel tunnel after sustained efforts by the airport team.

Kaumadi thanked SriLankan Airlines, dnata, and Dubai International Airport for their assistance.

The discovery brought renewed hope after the prolonged search and uncertainty surrounding her pet’s whereabouts.

Owner Waits for a Safe Reunion in Sri Lanka

Although Chuuti has been found, the emotional journey is not yet over for Kaumadi, who is currently in Sri Lanka and awaiting his safe return.

She described the cat as a beloved family member and expressed how painful the days apart had been.

Arrangements are still needed to transport him home safely.

Her story highlights the strong bond between people and their pets, as well as the importance of coordinated efforts when animals go missing during travel.

For Kaumadi, the happiest moment will be holding Chuuti in her arms again.
