Dubai Parks Improve Accessibility With Free Wheelchairs and Inclusive Facilities

Dubai’s public parks are strengthening their commitment to making outdoor spaces welcoming for everyone, including People of Determination.

Managed by Dubai Municipality, these parks provide facilities such as free wheelchairs, accessible ramps, designated parking and specially designed seating.

The improvements aim to help visitors with mobility needs enjoy family outings without feeling excluded.

Inclusive features also support senior residents, caregivers and families looking for comfortable places to spend time together.

The initiative reflects Dubai’s wider efforts to make public spaces more accessible and inclusive.

Free Wheelchairs and Easier Access for Visitors

Visitors who require mobility assistance can access free wheelchairs at public parks, while designated parking spaces and ramps help make entry easier.

Accessible golf carts are also available to assist visitors who may find long walking distances challenging.

Several major parks, including Mushrif National Park, Creek Park, Zabeel Park, Safa Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park and Quranic Park, have received accessibility upgrades.

These improvements include wheelchair-friendly pathways, accessible toilets, Braille signage and adapted play equipment.

Quiet rooms for autistic visitors and staff trained in sign language further support people with different needs.

Inclusive Seating Helps Families Stay Together

One notable feature is specially designed park seating that allows wheelchair users to sit alongside family members and friends.

Rather than placing wheelchair users separately, the benches include an open space in the middle, creating a shared seating arrangement.

Supportive backrests and armrests also improve comfort for older visitors and people with mobility difficulties.

Nearby wheelchair storage units help keep mobility assistance readily available when needed.

These thoughtful details demonstrate how accessible design can improve everyday experiences for visitors across Dubai’s public parks.

Dubai’s Wider Push for Accessible Public Spaces

The park facilities form part of Dubai Municipality’s broader efforts to create barrier-free public spaces in line with the Dubai Universal Design Code.

In October 2025, the municipality reported that 80 per cent of public parks and 90 per cent of public beaches were fully accessible.

People of Determination also enjoy free admission to public parks and selected attractions, including Dubai Safari Park, Dubai Frame and Children’s City.

Accessible pathways, reserved parking and mobility assistance help make these destinations easier to enjoy.

Together, these measures support Dubai’s goal of ensuring residents and visitors can participate more comfortably in community life.
