Dubai Ride on November 1: How to register, collect your bib and plan your morning

Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road will swap cars for bicycles on Sunday, November 1, as Dubai Ride returns for the opening weekend of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.

The free cycling event offers two routes: a 12km ride along Sheikh Zayed Road and a 4km family-friendly loop through Downtown Dubai. Participants will cycle past some of the city’s best-known landmarks, including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera.

However, participants must register in advance and collect their rider bibs before the event. From choosing a route to arranging transport and checking road closures, here is everything you need to know about Dubai Ride 2026.

Dubai Ride 2026: Date, Time, Location and Entry Fee

Date: Sunday, November 1, 2026

Location: Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai

Route opening time: 6.15am

Last start time: 7.30am

Route closing time: 8am

Entry fee: Free, with compulsory registration

Participants are advised to arrive between 4am and 6am to allow enough time to reach their start gates and prepare for the ride.

How to Register for Dubai Ride 2026

Registration is compulsory, even though the event is free. According to the Dubai Fitness Challenge FAQs, the requirement helps organisers manage safety and security.

Follow these steps to register:

Visit the Dubai Fitness Challenge website and open the Dubai Ride registration page.

Log in or create an account using your email address, Google or Facebook.

Select your preferred route and start gate.

Choose a free event T-shirt during registration if you want one.

Save your registration QR code, which you will need to collect your rider bib.

Choose your route and start gate carefully, as registrations cannot be edited. If you need to change either selection, you must cancel your existing registration and register again.

Each adult must register individually, as group registrations are not permitted. Participants riding with friends are encouraged to select the same start gate and arrange a meeting point.

Parents and legal guardians can register up to three children. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian accept the registration waiver on their behalf.

Dubai Ride Registration Deadline and Bib Collection

Although no official registration closing date has been published, participants must register in time to collect their bibs before the event.

Bibs and T-shirts can be collected at the Dubai Municipality 30x30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park from Wednesday, October 28, to Saturday, October 31.

Collection timings are provided during registration.

Participants must bring their registration QR code. Friends or family members can collect a bib on someone else's behalf by presenting the relevant QR code.

Riders without bibs will not be allowed to participate. Lost bibs cannot be replaced directly, so participants must register again and collect a new one.

Which Dubai Ride Route Should You Choose?

Dubai Ride offers two routes designed for different cycling abilities and preferences.

12km Sheikh Zayed Road Route

The 12km route is the more challenging option and is intended for experienced cyclists. It passes the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal and Burj Khalifa.
Participants can choose from five start locations:

Museum of the Future

Al Satwa

Coca-Cola Arena

Business Bay

Lower Financial Street

Riders must finish at the gate associated with their selected starting point. Detailed route maps are shared with registered participants.

4km Downtown Family Route

The 4km route is a flat loop through Downtown Dubai, passing Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa.

It is designed for families, children and cyclists of different ability levels, making it a suitable choice for those looking for a shorter and more relaxed ride.

Dubai Ride 2026 Timings and Speed Limit

Participants should arrive between 4am and 6am, with the routes opening at 6.15am.

All riders must begin their ride by 7.30am, and the routes close at 8am.

Dubai Ride is not a competitive race. There is no official timing, and cyclists must observe the 25km/h speed limit throughout the routes.

Anyone cycling to the event before sunrise should ensure their bicycle has a working headlight.

Who Can Participate in Dubai Ride?

Dubai Ride is open to participants of all ages. However, parents should ensure younger children can safely complete their chosen route.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

People of determination are welcome, with dedicated entry points for adapted bicycles, handcycles and tandem bikes. Participants can find further accessibility information during registration.

Which Bicycles Are Allowed?

Participants can bring several types of bicycles, provided they are in good working condition.

Permitted options include:

Road bikes
Hybrid bikes
Mountain bikes
Children's bicycles
Tandem bikes
Bicycles with child seats or trailers
Pedal-assisted electric bicycles

Electric scooters, electric motorbikes and other motorised vehicles are not permitted.

What to Bring and Wear for Dubai Ride

Participants must bring a working bicycle, a helmet and their rider bib.

Helmets are compulsory for everyone, including children travelling in bike seats or trailers.

Organisers recommend wearing comfortable sportswear and closed sports shoes. Early-morning temperatures may feel cool before sunrise, but conditions can warm up later in the morning.

Other useful items include:

A filled water bottle

A working bicycle headlight if arriving before sunrise

Comfortable clothing suitable for cycling

Any essential personal items

Mai Dubai hydration stations will be available along the routes for water refills.

Large bags should be left at home because there are no changing rooms or bag-drop facilities. Pets are also not allowed.

Can You Rent a Bicycle for Dubai Ride?

Participants must arrange their own bicycles, as the organisers will not provide rental bikes at the event.

Those without a bicycle can contact local cycle shops or bike rental services before the event.

Last year, the RTA and Careem Bike offered free bicycle rentals through a promotional code in the Careem app, with temporary stations near two start gates.

However, no equivalent offer has been announced for this year's event.

Participants should check the Careem app and RTA's official social media channels for any updates before making arrangements.

How to Reach Dubai Ride: Metro, Parking and Public Transport

Organisers recommend travelling by bicycle, car or public transport. However, bicycles are not permitted on the Dubai Metro, so participants bringing their own bikes should plan their journey accordingly.

Parking near the start gates is limited, and motorists should allow extra time to reach their designated starting point.

Public transport is expected to operate as normal. During last year's event, the RTA extended Dubai Metro operating hours from 3am until midnight. No similar extension has been announced for this year's ride so far.

Participants should check official RTA announcements before travelling.

Dubai Ride 2026 Road Closures and Salik Charges

Roads in and around the cycling routes will be closed on Sunday, November 1. Organisers have advised residents and motorists to follow the RTA's official social media channels for the latest traffic updates.

During last year's Dubai Ride, Sheikh Zayed Road was closed between Trade Centre Roundabout and Al Hadiqa Bridge from 3am to 10am. Lower Financial Centre Street and part of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard were also affected.

Drivers should check the latest closure details before planning their journeys.

Will Salik Charges Change During Dubai Ride?

Salik charges may also change during major events.

Under the normal Sunday tariff described in the event information, drivers pay Dh4.20 per crossing, including 5 per cent VAT. However, event-day rates can differ.

During last year's Dubai Ride, Salik charged Dh6 during peak hours from 6am to 10am, Dh4 from 10am to 1am, and no charge from 1am to 6am.

Salik has not yet announced the rates for this Sunday's event. Motorists should check official updates before travelling.

Medical Assistance, Bicycle Repairs and Toilets

Support services will be available throughout Dubai Ride to help participants complete their journeys safely.

Fixed and mobile bicycle mechanics will be stationed along the routes to handle minor repairs. Anyone experiencing a bicycle problem should contact the nearest event marshal, identifiable by a green and blue jersey.

Medical assistance will also be available along the full route. Participants who need help should contact the nearest marshal or medic, or call 901 for assistance.

Toilets will be available at the start and finish gates. Organisers recommend using the facilities before setting off.

Final Tips for Dubai Ride Participants

Dubai Ride offers residents an opportunity to cycle through some of the city's busiest roads without regular vehicle traffic. To make the most of the experience, participants should register early, collect their bibs before October 31 and select a route suitable for their cycling ability.

Check official updates for any changes to transport arrangements, road closures, rental offers and Salik charges. Most importantly, arrive early, wear a helmet, follow the speed limit and stay hydrated throughout the ride.
