Dubai Etihad Rail–Metro Pedestrian Bridge Opens to Commuters
New Walking Bridge Connects Two Major Transport Stations
Dubai has opened a new pedestrian bridge connecting Al Yalayis Etihad Rail Station with Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.
The approximately 400-metre enclosed walkway became accessible to commuters on October 15, 2026.
The new connection allows passengers to transfer between the railway and Dubai Metro in around five minutes.
It also reduces the need for taxis or separate road journeys between the two stations. A few finishing works were still underway when the bridge became accessible.
Travelators and Easy Access for Passengers
The new pedestrian bridge has been designed to make transfers more convenient for daily commuters and visitors.
Moving walkways, known as travelators, help passengers move along the enclosed route more comfortably.
Escalators and staircases provide access to the elevated connection between the stations.
Passengers carrying luggage can benefit from the improved walking route when changing transport services.
Those who prefer not to walk can also use the shuttle bus service connecting the two stations.
Better Connectivity Across Dubai's Public Transport Network
The bridge connects Etihad Rail passengers directly with Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Dubai Metro Red Line.
From there, commuters can continue towards important destinations such as Dubai Marina, Business Bay and Downtown Dubai.
The connection also allows residents travelling from other parts of the city to reach the railway station using the Metro.
This integration offers a more convenient option for people who do not own a private vehicle.
It is expected to improve access to the new inter-emirate passenger rail service.
Etihad Rail Makes Dubai–Abu Dhabi Travel Easier
Etihad Rail launched its Dubai passenger services on September 30, 2026, connecting Al Yalayis Station with Mohammed Bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi.
The journey takes approximately one hour, offering an alternative to travelling between the two emirates by road.
Comfort Class fares start at Dh39, while Premium Class tickets start at Dh109.
The new pedestrian bridge strengthens the connection between national rail services and Dubai's existing public transport system.
Together, these transport links provide commuters and visitors with more convenient ways to travel across the UAE.
