Abu Dhabi Launches Free Art Workshops to Celebrate UAE National Day

Abu Dhabi is preparing to host a series of free art workshops that promote creativity, inclusion and community participation ahead of the UAE’s 55th National Day.

Called Khat Wa Khuyoot, the initiative will run from November 1 to 9, 2026, across cultural and heritage venues in the emirate.

The programme aims to bring People of Determination, artists and members of the public together through creative activities that celebrate the country’s values and cultural identity.

Art Workshops Across Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Venues

The programme will feature 11 artists leading sessions in areas such as painting, digital art, Arabic calligraphy and design.

Visitors will also have opportunities to create their own work in shared art spaces.

Activities are planned across Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra region, with venues including Manarat Al Saadiyat, the Cultural Foundation, Qasr Al Muwaiji and Al Dhafra Fort.

The workshops are free to attend, although advance registration is required and places are limited.

Celebrating Sheikh Zayed’s Values Through Creativity

Each workshop will reflect one of seven values associated with the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

These include wisdom, respect, human development, determination, sustainability, unity and generosity.

By connecting artistic expression with these principles, the initiative aims to encourage participants to explore shared values while learning new creative skills.

Organisers also want People of Determination to be recognised as active creators who contribute to the country’s cultural life.

Building a More Inclusive Cultural Community

The initiative reflects Abu Dhabi’s wider efforts to make cultural activities more accessible and strengthen connections across society.

Adults can participate regardless of whether they live in the emirate, subject to registration and availability.

After the workshops, organisers plan to document participants’ creations and digitise selected pieces, with the possibility of developing some into art products for future national events.

The programme offers a creative way to celebrate National Day while highlighting inclusion, collaboration and the importance of community participation.
