Sheikh Mohammed calls upon public to raise the flag on November 3
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has called on the public to celebrate UAE Flag Day on November 3, 2026.
In a message shared on Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed urged citizens, residents, government institutions, ministries, schools, universities and households to raise the UAE flag with pride.
He called on everyone to raise the flag “high, proud, noble, and fluttering in the sky of our country,” highlighting its importance as a symbol of national unity and belonging.
Why Is UAE Flag Day Celebrated on November 3?
UAE Flag Day is observed annually on November 3 to commemorate the accession of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the country's second president.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid declared the annual occasion on December 11, 2012, and the country celebrated Flag Day for the first time in 2013.
The occasion reflects the values of loyalty, unity, belonging and gratitude that bring the UAE together.
Flag Day Marks the Start of the UAE National Month
For the past two years, Flag Day has also marked the beginning of the UAE's National Month, a period of celebrations that continues until Eid Al Etihad on December 2, the country's National Day.
The month-long period provides an opportunity for citizens and residents to celebrate the UAE's history, achievements, culture and national identity.
UAE Landmarks to Celebrate with Flags and Displays
Across the country, Flag Day is usually marked by colourful displays of the UAE flag at important landmarks, beaches, public spaces and government buildings.
Thousands of flags are raised throughout the Emirates, creating striking displays that reflect national pride and the spirit of unity.
Schools, universities, public institutions and private organisations also take part in celebrations, bringing communities together to honour the country's flag and its values.
