RTA wins first Dubai-it award in government sector, Sheikh Hamdan announces

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has won the Dubai-it Award in the government institution category, Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced on Sunday.

The award recognises RTA’s outstanding performance in developing Dubai’s transport system and delivering projects that improve the lives of residents.

Sheikh Hamdan Highlights RTA’s Achievements

Announcing the winner, Sheikh Hamdan explained that the term ‘Dubai-it’ represents an exceptional achievement delivered in record time and with high quality.

He said RTA reflects this approach through its major infrastructure projects and attention to even the smallest details.

According to the Crown Prince, the authority has demonstrated efficiency, innovation and a commitment to meeting the needs of Dubai’s growing population.

Dubai Completes Major Transport Projects at Record Speed

RTA has delivered some of the world’s most ambitious transport infrastructure projects with a high level of efficiency.

Sheikh Hamdan noted that major road, bridge and tunnel projects in Dubai have been completed at twice the global rate of speed and efficiency while maintaining high quality standards.

These developments support the emirate’s efforts to improve connectivity, reduce travel times and provide residents with a smoother commuting experience.

Dubai Metro Achieves 99.7% Schedule Accuracy

The Crown Prince also highlighted the Dubai Metro’s operational performance, noting that its schedule accuracy has reached 99.7 per cent.

The metro network continues to expand to serve more areas of the city and meet the growing demand for public transportation.

Dubai is also among the leading global cities in adopting autonomous transport technologies. RTA is developing driverless passenger transport systems designed to help people reach their destinations safely, quickly and comfortably.

In addition, the city has expanded its cycling infrastructure, with more bicycle paths supporting efforts to create a more pedestrian-friendly urban environment.

Sheikh Hamdan Calls for High Standards in Government Services

Sheikh Hamdan said Dubai’s institutions should anticipate the city’s needs, respect people’s time and reflect the emirate’s commitment to speed and quality.

He emphasised that these principles should guide government entities in delivering projects and services that benefit residents and contribute to Dubai’s continued development.

What Is the Dubai-it Award?

The Dubai-it Award was announced earlier this year to recognise individuals, projects, companies and institutions that demonstrate the ‘Dubai-it’ approach through exceptional performance, efficiency and quality.

The award covers several fields, including:

Government
Real estate
Economy
Business
Technology
Health
Sports
Education
Society
Services

Each field includes three main categories: Individual, Project, and Institution or Company.

RTA’s recognition highlights Dubai’s continued focus on efficient infrastructure development, innovative transport solutions and high-quality public services.
