Dubai Relatives Celebrate Abdul El-Sayed’s Historic US Senate Victory
Historic Election Victory Brings Joy to Dubai Family
Relatives of Dr Abdul El-Sayed living in Dubai are celebrating his historic victory in the 2026 US midterm elections.
El-Sayed defeated Republican candidate Mike Rogers in Michigan, becoming the first Muslim elected to the United States Senate.
For Dubai resident Zahra Jukaku, the result was especially meaningful because El-Sayed’s wife, Dr Sarah Jukaku, is her first cousin.
She said family members had closely followed the election through news updates and group messages, sharing their excitement as soon as the result was announced.
Family Remembers His Inspiring Advice
Zahra recalled El-Sayed’s visit to Dubai in 2011, when he offered advice to her younger brothers about education and personal growth.
He encouraged them to go beyond expectations, explaining that doing more than what is asked can help people achieve greater things.
The message stayed with the family and continues to inspire the younger generation.
Zahra said she still shares the advice with her children, including her son Abdulla, who has been motivated by El-Sayed’s achievement.
Relatives Supported His Michigan Campaign
The family’s involvement extended beyond following the election results.
Relatives travelled from different parts of the United States, including California and New York, as well as Canada, to support the campaign.
They took part in door-to-door outreach and other election activities in Michigan.
El-Sayed’s father-in-law, Dr Tayeb Jukaku, also became a major financial supporter, contributing $300,000 to a political action committee backing the campaign.
The victory has therefore become a proud moment for relatives across several countries.
A New Chapter in American Political History
El-Sayed, 42, built his campaign around issues such as affordability, healthcare reform and the proposal for Medicare for All.
His victory marks a significant milestone for Muslim representation in American politics.
Dubai relatives also remember his close connection with the extended family, including visits and participation in family celebrations.
They have expressed happiness over his achievement and hope he will make a positive contribution through his new role in the US Senate.
