UAE Launches AI-Enhanced Scholarship Platform to Speed Up Applications

The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has launched a new AI-enhanced scholarship platform designed to make applications faster, simpler and fully digital.

The new service forms part of EduHub, the UAE’s unified higher education digital portal, which provides access to services including university registration and admission, scholarships, information about institutions and academic programmes outside the UAE, and exemption requests.

The Ministry said the platform uses artificial intelligence and government data integration to reduce paperwork and streamline the entire scholarship application journey.

Applications Can Take Just Five Minutes

One of the biggest changes is the reduction in the number of steps and fields applicants need to complete.

Previously, scholarship applications involved five steps and 22 fields. Under the new system, this has been reduced to:

4 fields to complete
Only 2 documents required
The Ministry says an application can now be submitted in as little as five minutes.

Government Data Retrieved Automatically

The platform is digitally connected with several UAE government entities, including the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the National Service and Reserve Authority, and the Ministry of Education.

This allows information to be retrieved automatically rather than requiring students to repeatedly enter the same personal details.

Students following the UAE government curriculum also no longer need to manually submit their high-school transcripts, as the information can be retrieved directly through the system.

Rashed Karam Al Kaabi, Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department at the Ministry, said the integration has helped reduce both paperwork and the amount of information applicants need to provide.

AI Used to Read and Verify Documents

Artificial intelligence is also being used to read and verify documents submitted through the platform.

Several processes that previously required direct interaction with Ministry staff have been automated.

Scholarship agreements, for example, can now be signed electronically through the platform. Students can also receive documents following the award of a scholarship without having to visit Ministry offices or rely on traditional communication channels.

Track Scholarship Applications Online

Applicants will receive instant notifications and continuous updates about the status of their applications.

The platform also includes a direct messaging feature that allows students to communicate with the relevant department.

According to the Ministry, the digital system should make it easier to track applications, reduce duplicate submissions and minimise manual errors.

Previously, some applicants faced difficulties tracking applications through email or needed to visit the Ministry when technical problems occurred.

The new system is designed to move the full scholarship process online.

Part of UAE’s Digital Transformation

The Ministry said the platform supports its wider efforts to reduce bureaucracy and increase the use of artificial intelligence in government services.

During the next phase, officials will monitor factors including how quickly applications are completed, the number of steps involved, the percentage of transactions processed digitally and customer satisfaction.

The findings will be used to further improve the scholarship service and overall student experience.
