UAE tourists can increase the validity of their visit visa by extending their stay in the country for a maximum of 60 days.

However, those who do not extend their tourist visa as per the procedures set by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) will face fines of AED50 per day.

If you have your visa issued in Dubai, it is important to note that the 10-day visit visa grace period for tourists has been scrapped as well.

This means that visitors who stay beyond the validity of their tourist visa without renewing their visas can be arrested for for illegal stay. The UAE conducts regular inspections to catch offenders.

That said, here is an extensive guide to extend your visit visa without getting fined.

As per the ICP website, it costs AED610 (inclusive of request fee, issuance fee and e-services fee) for extending a visit visa.

However, according Dubai’s GDRFA website, the cost for extending a visa is AED600 and can vary if the sponsored person is inside the country.

This would come up to around AED620, which includes the knowledge fee, innovative fee and fee inside the country.

“The total amount of the visa may vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the sponsored person or for any other reasons that may require that,” the GDRFA website reads.

If you are applying for a visit visa extension via a travel agent, the cost can vary anywhere between AED800 and AED1,000.
