The State Security Chamber of the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal has adjourned the hearing in Case No. 87 of 2023 involving the 'Justice and Dignity Committee' to May 2. This case entails 84 defendants accused of establishing and managing a clandestine terrorist organization in the UAE. The charges against them include planning terrorist acts, fundraising for the Organization, and concealing the source and destination of those funds. During Thursday's session, defense arguments were heard for over three hours, with lawyers for the accused arguing that the court lacked jurisdiction due to a prior judgment in a previous case, Case No. 79 of 2012. The prosecution countered by reaffirming their position and contending that the current charges are materially distinct from those in the prior case. They emphasized the separate offense of financing a terrorist organization, which was not encompassed in the previous trial.
