The Sharjah Public Library has received a significant boost with a Dh 2.5 million grant from Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah. This allocation, directed by the Supreme Council Member, aims to enhance the library's collection with the latest titles from publishers participating in the ongoing 15th annual Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2024).

The annual grant, overseen by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), is part of Sheikh Sultan's vision to bolster the regional and global book industries while enriching Sharjah's offerings to readers, students, researchers, academics, and knowledge seekers. It underscores the vital role of libraries in fostering comprehensive and sustainable societal development.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SBA, expressed gratitude for the generous grant, emphasizing its multifaceted impact. She highlighted how the grant supports publishers commercially while providing educational opportunities for the community, especially in Sharjah and the UAE. Moreover, Sheikha Bodour stressed the deeper significance of the initiative, reflecting Sharjah's commitment to nurturing a culture of reading, knowledge acquisition, and learning among younger generations. She emphasized the pivotal role libraries play in laying the groundwork for the city's cultural growth and overall development.

The allocation will enable the Sharjah Public Library to expand its collection, offering a diverse range of titles that cater to various interests and age groups. By stocking up on the latest publications showcased at the SCRF 2024, the library aims to engage readers of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a vibrant literary culture in the community.
