Dh2.5 million grant allocated to Sharjah Public Library
The Sharjah Public Library has received a significant boost with a Dh 2.5 million grant from Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah. This allocation, directed by the Supreme Council Member, aims to enhance the library's collection with the latest titles from publishers participating in the ongoing 15th annual Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2024).
The annual grant, overseen by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), is part of Sheikh Sultan's vision to bolster the regional and global book industries while enriching Sharjah's offerings to readers, students, researchers, academics, and knowledge seekers. It underscores the vital role of libraries in fostering comprehensive and sustainable societal development.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SBA, expressed gratitude for the generous grant, emphasizing its multifaceted impact. She highlighted how the grant supports publishers commercially while providing educational opportunities for the community, especially in Sharjah and the UAE.
