Dubai to Sharjah Motorists Face Overnight Road Closures Until November 15 for Etihad Rail Works

Daily Night-Time Restrictions on Emirates Road

Motorists travelling from Dubai towards Sharjah will face temporary overnight road closures as infrastructure work continues on the Etihad Rail project.

The restrictions will affect Emirates Road (E611) for four hours every night, beginning on Friday, October 30, and continuing until Sunday, November 15, 2026.

The closure will be in effect daily between 1am and 5am.

Drivers using this route during the affected hours are advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid unexpected delays.

Key Locations Affected by the Roadworks

The traffic restrictions are linked to ongoing railway infrastructure development around key areas connecting Dubai and Sharjah.

The locations highlighted in the announcement include Maleha Street, Emirates Road and the Sharjah Mosque area.

Motorists travelling through these sections should remain alert and watch for temporary traffic arrangements.

Drivers are also advised to follow road signs and directions provided by the relevant authorities while passing through the construction zones.

Drivers Advised to Plan Alternative Routes

The overnight closure may affect commuters, residents and other road users travelling between the two emirates during early-morning hours.

Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time and check available alternative routes before leaving.

Following temporary road signs and traffic instructions will help drivers navigate the affected areas safely.

Where possible, people travelling from Dubai to Sharjah may consider scheduling their journeys outside the closure period.

Etihad Rail Development Continues Across the UAE

The temporary road restrictions form part of the wider infrastructure work supporting the UAE's national railway network.

The project is intended to strengthen transport connections between different emirates and improve the country's long-term travel infrastructure.

Although the construction may cause temporary inconvenience for motorists, the work is part of preparations for expanded rail connectivity.

Etihad Rail has apologised for the disruption and thanked road users for their patience and cooperation.
