Dubai Police Secured 95.2 Million Airport Passengers in 2025 as AI Use Expands

Dubai Police is expanding artificial intelligence and smart security systems across airport operations after supporting the security of 95.2 million passenger journeys and more than 86.75 million pieces of baggage during 2025.

Dubai Police has highlighted the scale of its airport security operations after Dubai International Airport handled a record 95.2 million passengers in 2025, alongside more than 86.75 million pieces of baggage.

The figures were reviewed by Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, during his annual inspection of the General Department of Airport Security. The review focused on security performance, artificial intelligence, employee development and projects aimed at making passenger journeys more efficient.

AI Playing Bigger Role in Airport Security

Dubai Police is increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into different stages of airport security operations.

During the inspection, Al Marri reviewed smart systems used throughout the passenger journey, including technologies supporting passenger screening, the detection and management of unattended baggage and the analysis of camera feeds and visual information.

The systems are intended to strengthen monitoring capabilities, support faster responses and improve operational decision-making while handling large passenger volumes.

Al Marri called for further expansion of AI applications across airport-security operations, with Dubai Police focusing on combining security requirements with faster and more streamlined passenger procedures.

Nine Projects Target Better Passenger Experience

Dubai Police also reviewed nine development projects designed to improve the passenger journey.

The projects focus on simplifying procedures and integrating smart solutions throughout the airport experience, from the time passengers enter the facility until they depart.

The initiative reflects a broader focus on using data and technology not only for security but also to identify passenger needs and improve service efficiency.

With DXB operating at record passenger levels, maintaining efficient passenger flows has become increasingly important.

Official Dubai Airports figures show that Dubai International welcomed 95.2 million passengers during 2025, an increase of 3.1% compared with the previous year.

It was the busiest year in the airport's history and represented the highest annual international passenger traffic recorded by an airport.

More Than 86 Million Bags Handled

Baggage security and management also represented a significant part of airport operations during the year.

Dubai International handled 86.75 million bags in 2025, up 4.95% year on year, according to Dubai Airports.

The figure represented the highest annual baggage volume in DXB's history. Around 89% of arriving baggage for passengers ending their journeys in Dubai was delivered within 45 minutes of the aircraft reaching its stand.

Dubai Police said its airport security system combines established security procedures with increasingly advanced technological solutions to support the secure movement of passengers and baggage.

More Than 4,500 Airport Security Employees Trained

Investment in technology has been accompanied by continued training for airport security personnel.

Around 4,542 employees received specialised training during 2025, according to figures reviewed during the annual inspection.

The programmes were aimed at strengthening employees' professional capabilities, readiness and ability to operate increasingly sophisticated security technologies.

The General Department of Airport Security also reported an internal employee happiness rate of 96% and an employee motivation rate of 100%.

Al Marri stressed the importance of developing human capabilities alongside investment in advanced technology, particularly as airport security systems become more digitally integrated.

Seven Years of Compliance With Aviation Security Standards

Another result highlighted during the review was the department's continued compliance with aviation security requirements.

Dubai Police reported 100% compliance with national and international civil aviation security standards for seven consecutive years, based on internal and external auditing.

The achievement reflects continued efforts to maintain security procedures in line with international aviation requirements while adopting new technologies and operational practices.

The department also completed all 27 identified improvement opportunities, recording a 100% completion rate for the initiatives reviewed.

DXB Recorded Its Busiest Year

The scale of Dubai Police's airport-security operations comes as Dubai International continues to record unprecedented passenger numbers.

Besides welcoming 95.2 million passengers in 2025, DXB recorded 454,800 aircraft movements, an increase of 3.3% compared with 2024.

December was the busiest month in the airport's history, with 8.7 million passengers, while the fourth quarter recorded 25.1 million passengers.

Airports Council International later ranked Dubai International second worldwide for total passenger traffic in 2025, behind Atlanta, while DXB maintained its leading position in international passenger traffic.

Security and Passenger Experience Move Together

As Dubai's aviation sector continues to grow, authorities are placing increasing emphasis on maintaining security while reducing unnecessary delays for travellers.

Dubai Police's strategy at the airports combines trained personnel, artificial intelligence, monitoring systems, data analysis and coordination with airport partners.

Al Marri said Dubai's airports represent an important gateway to the emirate and that the experience passengers receive contributes to Dubai's international image as a city focused on security, efficiency and innovation.

With passenger numbers remaining at record levels, Dubai Police is expected to continue expanding AI-powered security systems and smart services as part of preparations for the future growth of Dubai's aviation network.
