Abu Dhabi issues Dh15,000 fine against plastic facility for environmental violations
Abu Dhabi's Environment Agency has imposed an administrative fine of Dh15,000 on a plastic and paper manufacturing facility for violating environmental regulations.
Located in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), the facility was found to have breached several environmental requirements during its operations.
Air Pollution and Storage Silo Issues Identified
The inspection identified multiple violations at the facility, including the release of heavy air pollutants during operational activities.
The facility also failed to implement the required environmental measures and conditions to control emissions. In addition, inspectors identified a deterioration in the technical condition of its storage silos.
These violations led the authorities to take enforcement action against the facility.
Facility Takes Corrective Measures
Following the enforcement measures, the facility rectified its status and addressed the causes of the violations, bringing its operations into compliance with environmental requirements.
The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) stressed that reducing industrial emissions is essential to improving air quality and limiting the exposure of workers and community members to harmful pollutants.
Previous Dh25,000 Fine for Environmental Breach
In July, another industrial facility in Abu Dhabi was fined Dh25,000 for failing to implement the necessary measures to control air emissions and prevent dust from spreading.
These penalties form part of EAD's broader enforcement programme aimed at protecting the environment and encouraging sustainable industrial practices across the emirate.
EAD Calls on Industrial Facilities to Follow Environmental Rules
The authority urged all industrial facilities in Abu Dhabi to comply with environmental regulations, reduce emissions and take appropriate measures to prevent pollution and environmental harm.
EAD also confirmed that it will continue conducting regular inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain high environmental standards across Abu Dhabi.
