UAE to continue playing hosts to Pakistan Cricket Team

The Pakistan Cricket team will continue to play all its home matches in the United Arab Emirates after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reached an amicable agreement with the Emirates Cricket board.

Earlier, there were reports that the Emirates Cricket Board did not want to play hosts to Pakistan, but this situation has been shunted away for now.

A joint press release was issued after deliberations were held between the two boards. Also, it was informed that the Emirates board has volunteered to ‘a significant reduction’ in the costs the PCB would incur in hosting games in the kingdom. The overhead charges include, venues, security costs, stadium attendance and catering.

"The PCB and ECB (Emirates Cricket Board) have held fruitful discussions on matters of mutual interest," a joint statement read.

"The ECB has committed to a significant reduction of the costs to Pakistan Cricket Board of holding tournaments with immediate effect."

The Pakistan board was not very impressed and had raised concerns when the Emirates board announced a new T20 league. What made matters worse that it also made it clear that Pakistan players would not be allowed to take part in the league.

The dispute was also centred on the proposed Afghanistan Premier League which was slated to be played in in October, and which clashed with Pakistan’s International fixtures against Australia and New Zealand.

PCB head Najam Sethi was locked in hectic discussions with the ECB in order to carve out a 35-day window before the next PSL which would allow the PCB to make adequate arrangements.

Sethi managed to convince the ECB as the Emirates board announced that they would not hold any league and or any event when the PSL would be taking place in the region.

According to the new arrangement, the proposed ECB T20 league and the T10 league would now take place between December 10 and January 10.
