Dubai's "Muezzin Al Farij" initiative aims to cultivate a new generation of muezzins among children aged 6 to 16. Spearheaded by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, in collaboration with Furjan Dubai, the initiative seeks to strengthen Emirati identity and religious faith among the youth.

Thirteen-year-old Abdul Rahman shares his experience of being selected as a muezzin through the Muezzin Al Farij program. He expresses his gratitude for the opportunity and his aspiration to serve as a muezzin in Al Haram one day. Abdul Rahman's journey began when his mother encouraged him to join the program, reflecting the familial and community support integral to the initiative.

Similarly, Abdul Rahman's brother, 11-year-old Omer, recounts his nervousness and eventual pride in becoming a muezzin. Both brothers have performed prayers at Al Nasr Club Mosque, marking significant milestones in their journey as muezzins. Their mother, Sameha, praises the initiative for its impact on families and residents of Dubai, emphasizing the warmth she feels hearing her sons give the call to prayer.

The selection process for muezzins involves applicants recording a 20-minute clip of the call to prayer in the presence of a guardian, which is then evaluated by a judging committee. The initiative has attracted over 300 young Emiratis, providing them with training for the proper recitation of the call to prayer. Once selected, muezzins' entries are uploaded online for public voting, fostering community engagement and support.

The impact of the Muezzin Al Farij initiative extends beyond individual participants, garnering recognition from prominent figures such as Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Sheikh Hamdan's support reflects the broader commitment to empower and recognize the contributions of muezzins and imams in Dubai. Notably, salary increases have been implemented for adult muezzins and imams, underscoring the significance of their role in the community.

Videos of young muezzins like Mohammed Yousef Mohammed from Al Barsha have gone viral, showcasing their talent and dedication. The initiative has sparked interest among mothers seeking to enroll their sons, highlighting its success in promoting religious engagement and community pride.

In conclusion, Dubai's "Muezzin Al Farij" initiative exemplifies the city's dedication to preserving cultural traditions and fostering the participation of youth in religious practices. By empowering young Emiratis as muezzins, the initiative not only honors a proud tradition but also cultivates a sense of belonging and identity among the youth.
