UAE President directs all mosques to offer absentee prayers for the victims of Earthquake

The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has directed that funeral prayers in absentia be performed for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, following Juma's prayers (Friday prayers) in all mosques across the country.

The death toll climbed over 17,500 on Thursday. It has been reported by the officials and medics that 14,351 people died in Turkey and 3,162 in Syria.

Sheikh Mohamed had earlier directed the allocation of $100 million for the quake victims' aid. The UAE has also already sent out a search and rescue team and set up a field hospital to aid the victims in their time of need.
