New Penalties for Road Violations
Road Violations Fines in Dubai

In a new awareness campaign launched by the Ajman Police titled “No to Wrongful Violations” the authorities unveiled a new series of penalties for several road violations including overtaking and dangerous driving with fines ranging from AED600 to AED3,000 and license suspensions.

The new campaign was announced via social media, the caption read, “Ajman Police enhances road security by launching the “No to Wrongful Violations” awareness campaign.”

New Road Fines

  1. AED3,000 and one-year license suspension – Trucks overtaking where overtaking is prohibited.
  2. AED1,000 and six black points – Overtaking from the yellow lane.
  3. AED600 and six black points – Dangerously moving onto the road.

Earlier this month, the UAE Ministry of Interior (MOI) introduced new traffic penalties of up to $545 (AED2,000) and see vehicles impounded for 60 days.

The new rules were set in place to “achieve safety of society.”

UAE Traffic fines

Under the new traffic rules, it will be an offence to:

Gather near valleys, flooded areas and dams during rainy weather. Motorists who do so face a fine of AED1,000 ($272) and receive six black points
Enter flooded valleys while overflowing with rainwater, regardless of their level of danger. Motorists who do so face a fine of AED2,000 ($545) and receive 23 black points. They will also have their vehicle impounded for 60 days.

Obstruct the relevant authorities from regulating traffic; or ambulance and rescue vehicles during emergencies, disasters, crises and rains; and in flooded valleys. Motorists who do so face a fine of AED1,000 ($545) and receive four black points. They will also have their vehicle impounded for 60 days.
