 Renowned chef Sameera Madushanka Dahanayaka, representing the UAE national team, achieved extraordinary success at the 26th IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany, securing four gold medals for his impeccable salt and sugar carvings. His exceptional talent and dedication have garnered widespread recognition in the culinary world.

Having already amassed an impressive collection of 30 gold medals from various competitions, Chef Sameera's recent triumph at the Culinary Olympics marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career. His outstanding performance in both pastry and culinary art categories left judges and spectators in awe, showcasing his mastery of intricate techniques and artistic flair.

Sameera's winning entries included two gold medals in salt carving and two in sugar carving, each piece meticulously crafted to perfection. His salt carving creations, named 'The lost city of dragon riders' and 'Together one dream,' captivated with their intricate details and imaginative design. Meanwhile, his sugar carving masterpiece depicted a ruler seated on a majestic throne, aptly titled 'The Emperor,' exuding grandeur and elegance.

The journey to creating these exquisite artworks was no easy feat, requiring months of dedication and meticulous craftsmanship. Sameera devoted over six months to meticulously crafting each piece, often working tirelessly outside of his regular office hours to perfect every detail. For the sugar carving, he meticulously powdered sugar, incorporated other ingredients, and meticulously shaped and smoothed the structure to achieve the desired form. Similarly, the salt carving demanded meticulous attention to detail, with salt granules mixed with corn flour starch and water before being meticulously shaped and monitored daily for perfection. Remarkably, these intricate pieces can be preserved for over four years, a testament to Sameera's skill and expertise.

The Culinary Olympics, featuring 1,500 chefs from 70 countries, presented a formidable challenge for participants, with a distinguished panel of over 60 international experts, including renowned chefs such as Jerard Mendis and Uwe Micheel. Sameera's exceptional performance and gold medal victories have solidified his status as one of the top culinary talents on the global stage, bringing immense pride to the UAE and the culinary community at large.

Having relocated to the UAE six years ago, Sameera has embraced the country as his second home, seizing every opportunity to showcase his culinary prowess on an international platform. Currently working as a cake decorator at Mister Baker, his remarkable achievements serve as a testament to his dedication, skill, and unwavering passion for the culinary arts.
