UAE Announces New Launch Date for 6 Month Space Mission
UAE Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi Arrives in Florida for Space Mission

Sultan Al Neyadi, an astronaut from the UAE, is getting closer to making history. Before his lengthy voyage to the International Space Station, he and his Crew6 companions arrived at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The Mission will take off on February 27 at 10:45 am in what will be the Arab world's first long-duration space mission.Throughout the course of the six-month mission, 250 research experiments will be conducted, with Al Neyadi doing at least 20 of them in addition to the tasks assigned by NASA and orbiting station maintenance.

Sultan Al Neyadi expressed his excitement at the chance of having two Saudi astronauts join him while he is on the International Space Station.

Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Alqarni were included in the Ax-2 trip to the ISS, which the Saudi Space Commission had previously confirmed will fly no earlier than May on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft.

“It will be exciting and really interesting,” said Al Neyadi, adding: Prince Sultan bin Salman was the first Arab astronaut to go to space in 1985, followed by a Syrian astronaut in 1987. Hazza AlMansoori was the third in 2019, and I will be the fourth.

Al Neyadi said they will be pushing the boundaries of science, noting: “Our region is also thirsty to learn, and we ambassadors of science hope to bring more knowledge when we come back.”
