UAE announces 45 new coronavirus cases

The UAE on Monday announced 45 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, taking the total number of registered cases in the country to 198 till date.
 

The new cases span across different nationalities, including the UK, Canada, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Iraq, Kuwait, Pakistan, Italy, Peru, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan and Egypt to name a few, Dr Farida Al Hosani, the official spokesperson for the health sector, said in a media briefing.

The official said one of the infected persons came back from travel and did not adhere to the quarantine regulations, causing the spread of infection to 17 people, including family members and colleagues.

Dr. Hosani also announced three new recoveries, taking the total recoveries to 41.
