Saudi Ministry of Justice reported 315% surge in the issuance of licenses to lawyers

The Ministry of Justice in Saudi Arabia revealed a remarkable 315% increase in the number of practicing lawyers over the past seven years. In 2023, a total of 15,936 licenses were granted to lawyers, a substantial rise from the 3,844 licenses issued in 2016. Among these licenses, 3,844 were allocated to female lawyers, marking a significant increase compared to the 102 licenses granted seven years ago.

The Kingdom's judicial sector has undergone rapid and substantial developments recently. Justice Minister Walid Al-Samaani approved the Rules of Professional Conduct for Lawyers, emphasizing transparency in legal practices and permitting foreign law firms to offer consultancy services related to Saudi laws.

Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the United States, Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, highlighted the growing role of Saudi women lawyers in the nation's transformation. On International Law Day, she took to Twitter to express her thoughts, stating, "The legal field is just one of the many sectors where women are excelling in the Kingdom under #Vision_2030." Princess Reema, a leader in business innovation and an advocate for women's empowerment, assumed her role as the first female envoy in Saudi Arabia's history after serving as deputy minister at the General Entertainment Authority.
