Sheikh Hamdan approves 37 projects worth Dh390 million to develop Dubai countryside

These are meant to deliver the residents and the visitors with high level of services and modern complexities, explained the Dubai Crown Prince.


The master plan of the scenic route of saiha al salam includes additional facilities and activities in addition to what was developed earlier in the area which was approved by her highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.


In response to a question by Sheikh Mohammed Al Qasimi, Hamdan promoted: "These aim to provide high-level of services and high standard allocations to meet the demand of both the residents and the visitors of the region."


The Master plan for the Saih Al Salam Scenic Route provides for the construction of five tourist points and for development of about 97, 86 kilometers of cycling tracks with the overall length of the track in that area of 156, 61 kilometers. The roadmap also covers needs for infrastructure and other elements of activities including events targeting the tourists to enhance the overall tourism experience for the residents as well as tourists.

Further, thirty-seven projects and initiatives were approved that will help with the development of the countryside and rural areas of Dubai between the years 2024 and 2028. These series of developments and projects are expected to cost around Dh390 million approximately.


In the words of Sheikh Hamdan, “The master plan for the Saih Al Salam Scenic Route and Dubai Countryside & Rural Areas Development Projects is indeed the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum who seeks to develop the countryside of Dubai as one of the most attractive and pleasant places to be for all. This goes a long way in establishing the emirate as a first-rate choice for people to settle and work in, as well as a destination for tourists from around the globe.”

Five recreational stations:


The master plan outlines these five tourist stations:

Main Hub Station close Al Qudra Lakes. Shops built throughout the station will encompass the traditional market and will sell several local products characteristic of rural areas. Furthermore, an open-air cinema is planned near the Last Exit to combine the uniqueness of a film with nature. In addition, visitors can camp in luxurious tents located near Al Qudra Lakes activity sites. Additional public facilities will be erected to cater for the expected larger volume of visitors.

Wildlife Station. Various facilities and activities will be available in this station that is close to Flamingo Lake, such as; hot ballooning activities to have a broader perspective of the wildlife and the Love Lakes, luxurious camping facilities and raised walking paths interlinking Love, Qudra and Flamingo Lakes. Kayak tours will also be available around the three lakes.

Adventure Station. In this station near expo 2020 lake a Oryx platform adventure park will be established alongside walking and fitness trails. There will be a cycling and walking sandy trail around Expo Lake while budget camps and restaurants will be available.

Cultural Experience Station. This station positioned close to the camel farm in Al Maroom, will include a traditional majlis and an entertainment theatre at the camel farm. Visitors will even be able to engage in camel rides, go through the desert, and eat traditional dishes.

Desert Adventure Station will also have a new site and build a dedicated adventure and desert sports facilities. Another highlight of this place will include plenty of outdoor entertainment such as dune bashing, desert biking and climbing, sand—and even sitting storms! camel hunting tours and many more.

Also, he mentioned “We keep on launching unique projects, which will help reinforce the status of Dubai as one of the best cities in the world in terms of the quality of life and wellbeing of our citizens, residents and tourists.” 

As regard the first phase of the rural and countryside plans includes the introduction of 18 new services for the residents of these zones. 

These services include the construction of 3 nurseries, 7 parks and open spaces and 3 clinics (these include a general hospital, a health centre and an ambulance station). Also, the area will be serviced by civil defence and emergency services together with three social centres serving the residents and tourists which will consist of the majlis, large halls and community hall. 

The Dubai Urban Planning Higher Committee is responsible for the oversight of these additions and is also working on 37 projects and initiatives that form part of the master plan for developing rural and peri-urban areas measuring 2216 square kilometers.

Construction of rural service center and socio-cultural center including majlis, public library, art exhibition hall, centers for teaching traditional arts and centers for teaching Bedouin crafts is currently underway at Lahbab. In addition, a majlis is being constructed at Al Awir and health care units are coming up at Lahbab 2 and Al Lisaili with an ambulance station coming along at Margham and a civil defence centre at lahbab 1. In addition to this, three nurseries will be established in Al Awir 2, Lahbab, Al Lisaili, and seven neighborhood parks are underway in Margham, Al Lisaili, Nizwa, Lahbab 1 & 2 and Al Awir 2. Also, road networks are being constructed across many communities, including Wilayat Margham, Wilayat Lahbab, and Wilayat Al Lisaili.

The strategy will also add collective and mass transport options for all the hinterland villages, and traffic management measures in Lahbab, Al Awir and Al Lisaili. Also the construction of the first tourism leisure drive, dubbed Saih Al Salam Scenic Route, is in progress along with the moving of waste transfer stations in Lahbab 1, the relocation of the truck rest-stop and a sewage project in Al Lisaili and Nizwa, Margham, and Lahbab 1 and 2. In terms of agricultural development, landscaping works are being conducted in Al Faqa, Nizwa and Al Lisaili while a farmers support programme is ongoing. Concerned authorities are coordinating events and activities as Al Marmoom Festival, camel racing, cycling racing and the Fazza Yola Championship.
