Morocco's ongoing reform efforts have made it a model for sustainable development

The Minister of Administrative Reform and Public Service, Mohamed Ben Abdel Kader, stressed that the ongoing reform efforts in the Kingdom of Morocco in the area of public governance have made it a reference and a model for achieving the goals of sustainable development.

This came during a speech at the first session of the 18th Conference of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development (OAS), Monday, in Muscat, Oman, on the theme "The Role of Arab Governments in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals 2030."

He pointed out that the Moroccan government has adopted an ambitious national plan which envisages a comprehensive reform of public governance, based on constitutional principles and royal directives, which have made management reform workshops a top national priority, making the administration "not only an instrument for implementing government policies, A key lever for the development of the public facility and the promotion of the desired development model."

According to the minister, the latest annual report of the World Bank Group revealed Morocco's progress with nine degrees in the Global Business Climate Ranking, making it the top 60 in 190 countries, second in North Africa and the Middle East, third in the African continent, North Africa.

"Achieving the goals of sustainable development within the 2030 agenda is subject to the intervention of several economic and social actors, both in the private sector and the public sector. However, the primary role is the government authorities, which are responsible for financing, And the preparation and coordination of public policies to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
In this context, the Minister stressed the importance of the role that governments have to play in achieving the goals of sustainable development, through the administrative bodies, public policies, services provided to the conciliators and the general public.
 

 


In the first session of the conference, Benadab al-Kader intervened alongside Omani Minister of Civil Service Sheikh Khalid Bin Omar Al-Marhoonad and Saudi Minister of Civil Service Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan.

 

The conference, organized by the Arab Organization for Administrative Development (AOAD), will discuss several aspects of the future role of Arab governments in developing and improving the competitiveness of national economies in light of the international challenges and the requirements of the era towards achieving the goals of sustainable development.

The conference will focus on the goals and objectives of sustainable development 2030, planning mechanisms, requirements and how to improve the performance of governments in the core joints of Arab economies that are in line with the requirements of globalization and interest in the widespread use of modern technology.

The conference aims at encouraging governments and public administrations in the Arab countries to use their potentials and capacities to adapt to the requirements of globalization to improve the position of the Arab economies over the next 10 years on achieving the goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan and expanding cooperation with specialized international institutions.
The conference will be attended by the Arab Administrative Development Ministers, senior officials of government institutions concerned with sustainable development and members of parliamentary and judicial councils from several Arab countries. The Arab Organization for Administrative Development, which is a member of its executive board, is an independent body that is affiliated with the League of Arab States.
