Stranded passengers facing flight cancellations and service disruptions at Dubai International Airport (DXB) found relief as more than 60 Pakistani nationals were able to fly back home on Thursday. The Pakistan Consulate-General in Dubai swiftly responded to the crisis, mobilizing its teams to assist those affected by the floods and subsequent flight disruptions.

Hussain Muhammad, Consul-General at the Pakistan Consulate Dubai, took immediate action upon learning about the plight of stranded passengers at DXB. He personally visited the airport, where he distributed essential supplies such as food, medicine, milk, and other necessities to Pakistani families awaiting their flights.

In addition to providing aid directly to the affected families, Hussain Muhammad engaged with airline authorities to expedite flight departures and address the issues faced by stranded passengers. Most of the affected travelers were en route to Karachi, Pakistan, but found themselves stuck at DXB due to the flight cancellations.

The disruption in flight schedules was attributed to the aftermath of heavy rainfall, which led to the cancellation of approximately 1,244 flights in Dubai within the first two days. This unprecedented weather event, described as the heaviest rainfall in 75 years, caused widespread service disruptions and logistical challenges for travelers.

Acknowledging the coordinated efforts of the Pakistan Consulate-General in Dubai, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, the Pakistani Ambassador to the UAE, praised the swift response to assist stranded nationals. He highlighted the consulate's dedication to serving the Pakistani community in the UAE, emphasizing solidarity and support during challenging times.

The consulate's efforts extended beyond assisting stranded passengers at the airport. A team from the consulate also met with Pakistani cricket players, including Misbah-Ul-Haq, Abdur Razzaq, Umer Gul, and Kamran Akmal, who were awaiting a delayed flight en route to Houston, USA. This demonstrates the consulate's commitment to assisting Pakistani nationals in various situations, including those involving prominent figures.

Furthermore, the Community Welfare Wing of Pakistan’s Consulate General in Dubai collaborated with local organizations such as the Social Centre Sharjah and Pakistan Association Dubai to provide support to Pakistani expatriates facing difficulties accessing daily commodities.

Overall, the concerted efforts of the Pakistan Consulate-General in Dubai underscore the importance of diplomatic and community support during times of crisis. By swiftly addressing the needs of stranded nationals and coordinating with relevant stakeholders, the consulate exemplifies a commitment to serving and safeguarding the welfare of Pakistani citizens abroad.
