Gaza's Newton: Teen Creates Light
Gaza's Newton: Teen Creates Light

Teenager Hussam Al Attar has showcased remarkable ingenuity by creating his own electricity source using two fans acquired from a scrap market. This innovation has earned him the nickname "Gaza's Newton" among residents of the surrounding tent camp.

At just 15 years old, Al Attar has become known for his resourcefulness and determination in the face of adversity. Inspired by the story of English scientist Isaac Newton, he sought to bring light to the darkness and tragedy that surrounds him in Gaza.

With more than half of Gaza's population crammed into Rafah, where the Al Attar family now resides, electricity shortages are common. To address this challenge, Hussam devised a makeshift wind turbine system using the fans, wires, and batteries. By strategically placing the fans on the roof of their tent, Hussam created a renewable energy source capable of charging batteries and powering lights.

The nickname "Gaza's Newton" draws parallels between Al Attar's inventive spirit and Newton's legendary discovery of gravity under an apple tree. Despite the harsh conditions and constant threat of rockets, Hussam's determination to bring light to his family's tent reflects his resilience and optimism.

Through trial and error, Hussam perfected his wind turbine system, overcoming initial setbacks to create a reliable source of light for his family. His efforts have not only eased the suffering of his loved ones but also inspired hope among fellow residents facing similar challenges.

Looking to the future, Hussam remains steadfast in his aspirations to become a scientist like Newton. He dreams of creating inventions that will benefit not only Gaza but the entire world. Despite the adversity he faces, Hussam's determination to pursue his dreams highlights the resilience and potential of Gaza's youth.

In a region plagued by conflict and hardship, stories like Hussam's serve as a reminder of the power of innovation and resilience in the face of adversity. His ingenuity has not only improved the lives of his family but also earned him recognition and admiration within his community.

As Gaza's Newton, Hussam Al Attar embodies the spirit of determination and hope, proving that even in the darkest of times, a single individual's creativity and perseverance can illuminate the path to a brighter future.
