I am a great fan of yours and love reading your beauty tips every Friday. My face is getting pigmented (with brown spots) that are slowly spreading and getting bigger. Please help me get rid of these marks, as they are quite visible now.

Protecting your skin from sun exposure is paramount. Even when you are indoors, an application of aloe vera gel can give you the protection you need. Apply sunscreen on the face 20 minutes before stepping out in the sun. Apart from that, you can make a simple mask every day, using a slice of tomato, sprinkled with a little turmeric and bicarbonate soda. Gently scrub the pigmented area for a few minutes. Keep the mask on for five minutes and rinse off with cold water. Follow with aloe vera gel which works as both moisturiser and sun protection.

Could you please suggest a face mask for dry and combination skin?

Pulp a banana into a smooth paste, add honey and milk powder and apply to the face. Leave on for 30 minutes and rinse off with cold water. Follow this with a thin application of aloe vera gel on your face. This is a natural moisturiser. Ensure you drink at least 10-12 glasses of water daily. And remember to exercise, as it activates oils in your body, making skin supple and smooth.

Does using moisturisers or face creams increase facial and body hair growth? It has been two months since I started using these and I have noticed such growth. If it is so, how can I take care of my skin without the hair growth?

Moisturisers do not activate hair growth. It is worth checking with your doctor if there is a fluctuation in your hormones. Facial hair growth can increase if there are hormonal imbalances. Add 1 teaspoon rice powder and half a teaspoon of turmeric powder to yoghurt and apply on the face; when dry, scrub against the hair growth to deal with unwanted hair.

I'm a 15-year-old girl who loves to read your column frequently. I try all the remedies you give and they've helped me a lot. I have a few queries as well.
a. My hair is really thick but short. In three weeks, my sister is getting married, and I want my hair to be longer by that time to match the gown that I'm wearing.
b. My nails are short and have stopped growing much.
c. I have lost a lot of weight and that has left me with stretch marks all over my body.
Please suggest effective remedies for the above.

I'm always happy to hear from my young readers. To be honest, while natural remedies are great fixes, they are not always quick. Hair and nails, for example, will need time. If you want a super quick fix for both, I'd suggest going to a good hairdresser who can give you beautiful hair pieces for the forthcoming wedding. As for stretch marks, applying coconut oil on them twice a day regularly helps moisturise, smoothen and improve skin.
