Emirates airline has extended the suspension of check-in for passengers departing from Dubai until 9 am on Thursday, April 18, due to operational challenges caused by heavy rains and flooding. This decision comes after the Dubai International (DXB) airport faced significant disruptions in its operations following record rains on Tuesday. Recognizing the difficulties faced by passengers, the airline is working to secure accommodation and other amenities for affected travelers at the airport.

The suspension of check-in was initially announced on Wednesday, April 17, from 8 am until midnight, but has now been extended. Passengers are advised to come to the airport only if they have a confirmed flight booking, and only after 9 am on April 18. Emirates reassured passengers arriving in Dubai and those already in transit that they would continue to be processed for their flights, although delays are expected for both departures and arrivals. Impacted customers are encouraged to check the latest flight schedules on the Emirates website and to contact their booking agent or Emirates contact center for rebooking if their flights have been canceled.

Emirates expressed apologies to affected customers for the delays and disruptions to their travel plans, acknowledging the challenges faced by everyone involved. While some passengers have managed to reach their destinations, many are still waiting for flights. The airline's teams are working tirelessly to restore scheduled operations and to provide necessary assistance, including accommodation, to affected customers at the airport.

The extension of the check-in suspension underscores the ongoing impact of adverse weather conditions on air travel in the region. The heavy rains and flooding have posed significant challenges for airport operations and have disrupted travel plans for many passengers. Emirates' decision to prioritize passenger safety and comfort by extending the suspension reflects the airline's commitment to ensuring the well-being of its customers amidst challenging circumstances.
