Today marks the 29th day of Dhul Qadah in the Islamic calendar, and scholars and worshippers across the world are gathering to spot the crescent moon that marks the start of Dhul Hijjah.

The start of the month determines the day on which the Eid holidays begin, as it falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah.

Eid Al Adha 2023 around the World

As countries in the East start efforts to sight the new moon, news agencies, government officials and the International Astronomical Centre have been declaring the date of the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

The holiday of Arafat Day happens on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, with the Eid holiday landing on the 10.

The following countries have announced dates for Eid Al Adha 2023

Indonesia: The Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed that no moon has been sighted, meaning Eid will fall on Thursday June 29
Malaysia: No moon was sighted, meaning Eid will begin on Thursday, June 29, according to the Assistant Secretary of the Council of Rulers
Brunei: Once again, no moon was sighted in the night sky, meaning the Islamic holiday will begin on Thursday, June 29
