Dubai: Travelling this weekend? Leave earlier due to roadworks, DXB says
Are you going away for the long weekend? Lots of people are spending this upcoming public holiday after working nonstop all summer.
However, an update published by DXB on Friday stated that due to construction, traffic will be backed-up for the roads leading to the airport from September 5th to 7th.
In a post on X, the airport advised travellers to use the metro to the airport or arrive very early to cover the unexpected delays to Terminals 1 and 3.
Travel agencies confirm that demand for holidays is strong, particularly from singles and newlyweds, who remained home during the summer, unlike the families who went abroad.
Many businesses in the UAE expect single employees to work straight through the busy holiday period, and this unexpected long weekend is a rare chance for them to take a break.
