Businessman to host daughter's wedding aboard flight with Bollywood, Hollywood A-listers
Dubai, renowned for its opulent weddings, is set to redefine luxury with a wedding hosted aboard a private aircraft high above the city's skyline. The Popley family, owners of jewelry and diamond outlets in the UAE and India, is preparing for this exclusive event, scheduled for November 24, 2023.

The wedding ceremony will take place aboard a specially arranged Boeing 747 aircraft, operated by Jetex, flying from Dubai to Oman for the three-hour wedding journey. Aboard this "queen of the skies," 300 Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities, dignitaries, friends, and family will witness the celebration.
The bride and groom, Vidhi and Hridesh, will exchange their vows inside the aircraft, adhering to Sikh traditions and rites. About 1,000 guests from around the world will attend the week-long wedding festivities.
The aircraft has been refurnished and rearranged to accommodate the wedding rituals, making this event a truly unique and lavish experience. Some rites involving fire will be performed at the hotel later in the day.
Dilip Popley, the bride's father and Managing Director of Popley Group, shared that a year of meticulous planning has gone into orchestrating this extraordinary wedding, following a similar event in 1994. Popley expressed his desire to make this wedding the most iconic of 2023, highlighting the importance of Dubai as their chosen location.
Wedding planner Chimoo Acharaya explained that Dubai weddings can range from Dh0.5 million to Dh6-7 million, with grand weddings like the Popley's reaching the higher end of the spectrum. This wedding is set to be submitted as a Guinness World Record entry, marking the first sky wedding of its kind in the region.
Dubai's reputation for extravagant celebrations continues to soar, with this upcoming wedding poised to take luxury to new heights.
