Etihad Rail Launches Direct Cargo Service Between Fujairah and Abu Dhabi

Etihad Rail Freight and AD Ports Group have launched a direct rail cargo service connecting Fujairah Terminals with the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), bringing shipments closer to businesses in the capital.

The service allows containers arriving at Fujairah Terminals to travel by rail to ICAD, where customs clearance, inspections and cargo release can be completed.

This gives importers an inland collection point closer to their warehouses and production facilities.

ICAD has also been assigned the international location code “AECAD”, enabling shipping lines, freight forwarders and cargo owners to book shipments with ICAD as their destination and clearance point.

The connection is designed to serve importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors and logistics companies across Abu Dhabi. Combining port operations, rail transport and inland clearance is intended to simplify cargo handling and reduce reliance on long-distance trucking.

According to Etihad Rail Freight, scheduled rail movements will support high-volume shipments while helping ease road congestion and lower transport emissions.

The launch strengthens connections between Fujairah’s maritime gateway and Abu Dhabi’s industrial centres, giving businesses another option for managing their supply chains.
