Sharjah launches 3 new bus routes to Etihad Rail station in Al Dhaid
Passengers travelling to Etihad Rail’s Al Dhaid station can now use three new public bus routes connecting the railway station with Al Madam, Al Sajaa and Sharjah, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced.
The new services are designed to improve connectivity between different modes of public transport and make it easier for passengers to reach the UAE’s national railway network.
Three New Bus Routes to Al Dhaid Station
SRTA has introduced three dedicated routes connecting nearby communities with Etihad Rail’s Al Dhaid station:
ER1: Al Madam – Etihad Rail Station, Al Dhaid
ER2: Al Sajaa – Etihad Rail Station, Al Dhaid
ER3: Sharjah – Etihad Rail Station, Al Dhaid
The services provide passengers with convenient bus connections to and from the station, giving commuters in these areas an additional option for accessing the national rail network.
Al Dhaid Joins the UAE Passenger Rail Network
Al Dhaid became part of the UAE’s national passenger railway network on September 30, marking an important milestone for public transport in Sharjah.
The station is the first Etihad Rail passenger station in the emirate and connects Sharjah with destinations including Fujairah and Abu Dhabi.
The new bus routes are expected to make the station more accessible to passengers who rely on public transport for their journeys.
Etihad Rail connectivity has also been expanded in Dubai.
On October 15, a new pedestrian bridge opened between Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station and Etihad Rail’s Dubai Al Yalayis Station, providing passengers with a direct connection between the two transport networks.
The enclosed pedestrian bridge can be accessed through Exit 1 or Exit 2 of Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.
Five- to Seven-Minute Transfer
The pedestrian route includes escalators and moving walkways, with the transfer between the Metro and Etihad Rail stations taking approximately five to seven minutes.
Passengers who prefer not to walk can continue to use the Etihad Rail shuttle bus between the two stations.
Dubai Al Yalayis Station also began passenger operations on September 30, connecting Dubai to the wider inter-emirate passenger rail network.
With new bus routes in Sharjah and improved Metro connectivity in Dubai, the UAE is continuing to integrate its public transport systems and make Etihad Rail easier to access for passengers across the country.
