Saudi Arabia’s Dream of the Desert Luxury Train to Start at Dh30,000 a Night

Saudi Arabia is preparing to introduce a new level of luxury travel with Dream of the Desert, the Kingdom’s first ultra-luxury train. The exclusive rail experience is expected to begin welcoming passengers in the third quarter of 2027, combining high-end accommodation, entertainment and journeys through some of the country’s lesser-explored landscapes.

With fares starting at around Dh30,000 per cabin per night, the train is being positioned as more than a conventional railway journey. Its concept focuses on creating a fully planned luxury experience for a limited number of travellers.

Dream of the Desert Train: What Travellers Can Expect

The luxury train will feature 12 carriages and 34 suites, with a maximum capacity of 72 passengers. Guests will be able to choose from three different itineraries designed to showcase Saudi Arabia beyond its major cities.

The project is being developed in partnership with Italian luxury hospitality and travel company Arsenale International. According to the company’s management, the focus is on creating a carefully designed experience where accommodation, food, entertainment and the journey itself form part of one concept.

Journey Through Northern Saudi Arabia

The Dream of the Desert will cover more than 1,000 kilometres north of Riyadh, travelling towards areas close to the Jordanian border.

The planned journey includes stops around Al-Qassim, Ha’il, Al-Jouf and Qurayyat. Travellers will also have opportunities to explore attractions located near the railway stations, including historical locations, oases, farms and volcanic landscapes.

Luxury Travel Meets Saudi Arabian Culture

The train is also expected to incorporate live entertainment and storytelling into the journey. The concept aims to introduce passengers to stories from Saudi Arabia’s history through theatrical performances inspired by historical figures, myths and romantic tales.

Rather than simply transporting passengers between destinations, the experience is being designed around Saudi culture, landscapes and history.

How Much Will the Dream of the Desert Train Cost?

The starting price is approximately Dh30,000 per cabin per night. Travellers interested in the limited inaugural journeys can reportedly join the priority list with a fully refundable deposit of around Dh2,500.

The high starting price reflects the train’s positioning as an exclusive, limited-capacity luxury travel experience rather than a standard passenger service.

Saudi Arabia’s New Luxury Tourism Experience

Dream of the Desert adds another distinctive attraction to Saudi Arabia’s expanding tourism offering. By combining luxury accommodation with rail travel, remote landscapes and cultural experiences, the project is designed to give international visitors a different way to explore the Kingdom.

With its launch planned for 2027, the ultra-luxury train is expected to attract travellers looking for an exclusive experience across Saudi Arabia’s northern landscapes.
