Up to Dh8,000 fines: Abu Dhabi warns against illegal billboards, signages

The authorities of Abu Dhabi have called for the placement and design of billboards and other signages within the emirate to conform to the approved standards. Those failing to comply will be subjected to considerable monetary fines.
For habitual offenders, the fines will only get worse.
Such actions contravene Law No. 2 of 2012, which aims to preserve the aesthetics, sanitation, and general condition of public places in Abu Dhabi.
The DMT is actively reinforcing the legislation and has made enforcement statements in other forms of media to support these restrictions.
In the post, Abu Dhabi DMT while invoking Article 66 of the law indicated that Levying usage or advertising a sign without a permit or expired permit would invite sanctions of Dh 2,000 fine for first offence, Dh4,000 fine for second offence, and from third offence onwards it becomes Dh8,000 fine.
Moreover, the aforementioned authorities are set to impose sanctions on the use of billboards without valid permits or covenanted in expired documents set to argue Dh2000, 4,000 and 8,000 for first second and further offenders.
