Residents in Abu Dhabi can book parking spots in their cities at certain times of the day. 


These are also known as residents’ parking permit or Mawaqif parking permit, and this is for the benefit of homeowners and tenants alike to get a parking space in their neighborhood between 9pm and 8am. They can be used by visitors and non-permit holders (if they pay the fees) at other times of day. 


These are labelled with a blue line or ‘Resident Permit Only’ Mawaqif and can be applied for in apartment and villa complexes. Relatives of the same first or second-degree who live in the same home can apply for the permit, too. 

Mawaqif is the parking city that is spread across Abu Dhabi by the city transport agency. Parking lots are paid everywhere. But you can park free in Abu Dhabi on Sundays and public holidays.

Application for a resident parking permit costs different for UAE citizens compared to expats. 

It is provided at no charge for the UAE citizens for up to 4 apartments cars. 

It’s also free for UAE residents who apply for the permit in villa zones. 
It is Dh800 for expats in Dubai to get a permit for your first vehicle. 

It’s Dh1,200 for a permit for a second, extra car. 

Process  

Applicants can apply for the permit via Abu Dhabi’s TAMM website. : Before applying, they must pay all parking fines.
