Recalling a recent hailstorm on February 12, residents of Al Ain woke up to streets covered in white as large hailstones blanketed their surroundings. Videos shared by renowned 'storm chaser' Fahad Mohamad Abdul Rehman captured the surreal scenes, including residents playfully assembling a 'snowman' from hailstones. While some reveled in the novelty of the icy phenomenon, others faced challenges as the hailstorm caused damage to cars and properties across the city.
Residents recounted their experiences, expressing astonishment at the scale and severity of the storm. Many long-time residents remarked that it was the most significant weather event they had witnessed during their time in Al Ain, highlighting the unprecedented nature of the hailstorm. Reports indicated widespread damage to vehicles, with one Emirati businessman estimating losses of approximately Dh5 million after numerous cars were damaged by the rain and hail.
